Massive ponderosa pine trees have long provided material for log homes and furniture; the tree has structural strength beauty and character. The Ponderosa Pine Pool Table by Northwoods Billiards is the ultimate in log pool tables. The log side rails and outside log on the body are constructed of ponderosa pine and the log legs are made of Norway pine. Northwoods Billiards’ signature spotting point – a pine tree cut from black walnut – is embedded in the rail.The Ponderosa’s inner body is constructed of 0.75-inch seven-ply plywood. The top surface of the body is machined on a CNC (computerized router) for ease of assembly and to ensure the slate will lay flat and level. The inner body is then covered with ponderosa pine and hand-hewn for a rustic look. The tabletop is one-inch Brazilian slate.The log side rails are constructed of two-inch strips of knotty ponderosa pine and laminated together to ensure they will stand straight and true. They are then hand-hewn using a drawknife into a massive log shape so each table its own unique character – along with the knots. Luxurious leather pockets accent the log rails. The Ponderosa is available in both seven-foot and eight-foot pool table sizes in clear or honey pine finish.
